First of all, where are we?
Welcome to Big Mountain! Also known as Big MT (or the Big Empty, but maybe don't call it that in front of the Think Tank). The location is explained in more detail on the settings page.
...how?
SCIENCE.
What kinds of characters are being dragged here, anyway?
So long as your character is from the Fallout universe, they have every chance ofbeing a test s- vict- of visiting Big Mountain. This includes doubles, AU characters and OCs!
Do I need to write out an app?
Nope, just join the comm and hop on in!
What is/isn't allowed in my post or thread? How should I tag my posts?
Well... it's Fallout. Anything goes! We only ask that you warn for any smut or violence. If your main post contains explicit material, it should be under a cut and warned for in either the title or the cut text. If your thread starts heading in that direction, a simple warning in the subject line of one of your tags will do fine!
Posts should be tagged in the format of character name: username. (Examples- boone: thumbsdown, courier six: quixotically) Please try to remember to tag the posts you comment on, it helps keep things nice and organised :)
Does my character still have his/her weapons and items?
Characters will wake up in the Sink wearing a patient gown. Their clothing and weapons, and any other gear they had on them will be in the metal trunk beside the bed. There will also be a new addition to their items- a transportalponder! This handy device lets you teleport to anywhere in the Fallout universe, using the power of science!
... Unfortunately, you're wearing a patient gown when you first wake up for a reason. The Think Tank have run a few tests on you: they might have injected you with a few things, prodded you in a few places, inserted you with a device that keeps you docile in their presence, that kind of thing. The good news is that you still have your organs, so there is that. The bad news? Well, it's complicated...
Complicated how?
Well, you've been pulled across dimensions, right? It turns out that no one is meant to do that. You're supposed to stay put in your own dimension. Who knew? Anyway, yeah, it's kind of obvious that you don't belong here. The fabric of reality doesn't like you being around very much. In fact, it keeps trying to fix this problem. Maybe you start encountering a higher rate of "things trying to eat you." Maybe you start encountering...clipping errors "glitches." You know, passing through solid objects. Like boulders. Or the ground. The worst symptom is being shunted entirely out of this dimension out into an in-between one. It's all rather unpleasant.
But, look! More good news! The Think Tank actually knows how to solve this particular problem! ... eh, they're working on it, anyway. They've got experimental drugs and implants that they think will keep reality from trying to "correct" you. And, as far as anyone can tell, it works! Mostly. If you've been injected with one of the drugs, you'll have to keep coming back to get it... refreshed. If you've received an implant, then it's going to need regular tweaking. (Mun's choice as to which their character gets.)
As a side effect of these things, you'll find that even when you go home, you'll start to instinctively miss Big MT. You'll start to get "homesick." You'll want to come back. This was factored into your "glitch remedy" becausethe Think Tank doesn't want to lose their test subjects it's for your own good. Really.
So where is my character sleeping?
Long ago, there were actual people with limbs and basic human needs working here! Their quarters are marked on the map on the settings page. Your character can live here as long as they want. Strangely enough, it never seems to run out of spare beds...
Help! My character is injured!
...Don't you have any stimpaks? Med-X? No? Luckily for you, there's an auto-doc in the Sink. Too bad it's not exactly at full power. It can help along the healing process, but your character will still need to let themselves heal fully on their own. Remember kids, the best cure is prevention!
What if my character dies?
If your character dies in Big Mountain, their body will be brought back to the Think Tank. Somehow, through the unending power of science, you'll be brought back to life! ...Ah, but you'll probably ache a lot. You might have some pretty gnarly scars in places you never had them before. You'll probably have all your organs still, but if not you could probably find it again with Dala.
If your character dies somewhere else (say, they've used the transportalponder to transport back to the Mojave and gotten themseves eaten by a deathclaw), they'll wake up back in Big Mountain. Who knows what happened? How did you get back here? It is a mystery~
Either way, the entire process takes at least three days. In either case, your character will wake up in another patient gown in the Sink, with their belongings in the metal crate again.
